City of Charleston Honors North Central’s Legacy Tree Program
Proclamation Awarded by Mayor William Cogswell
On September 16, 2025, Mayor William S. Cogswell, Jr. presented a City of Charleston proclamation recognizing the North Central Neighborhood for its work through the Legacy Tree Program.
Launched in partnership with the City, the Legacy Tree program gives residents a way to invest directly in their neighborhood by funding and planting new trees across North Central. The initiative has already resulted in over a dozen trees planted in just our first year, increasing shade, strengthening the neighborhood’s resilience against heat and flooding, and beautifying our streets.
The Mayor’s proclamation highlights this local effort as a model for civic collaboration—neighbors, the City, and community partners working together to make Charleston greener and more livable.
